Autism Team- The cooperative has trained two groups of professionals from a variety of disciplines to support staff/parents in educating students with Autism. Team members often provide consultation to teachers and parents upon request. The team developed a notebook of training modules on various topics that are available in all buildings. This year, a series of after school "training" have been provided by team members using the modules as a resource. The role of the team continues to evolve as students and staff needs change. Psychology Department - Comprised of seven (7) school psychologists that serve the five school corporations involved with the cooperative. They participate in Building Based Teams, case conferences, testing students and provide consultation for teachers and parents.
Wraparound Facilitators - The NCI Cooperative has identified six staff members to support Wraparound activities in each school district. They work with families to identify their strengths and needs and develop a child/family planning team. Wraparound facilitators support creative problem-solving and do not rely just on "programs" to meet needs. They do work closely with community providers and families to address their needs. Many students have their learning impacted by stresses within their family and/or community. In order for them to learn, those stresses need to be addressed. Wraparound facilitators help families utilize their strengths, natural support systems and develop plans to strengthen their need areas.
